Why an Instagram Download May Not Work

The post is no longer public

A creator can change an account or post from public to private, or remove the content entirely. If Instagram itself no longer makes the post publicly accessible, a browser-based downloader may not be able to retrieve it.

The URL is incomplete or not the original post link

Copied text, profile URLs, redirected links, or incomplete share links can point somewhere other than the intended media. Open the post again in Instagram and copy its link directly from the sharing controls.

The content type is unsupported

A URL can be valid while the media behind it is outside the downloader's supported formats. InstaFetch currently focuses on supported public videos, Reels, and photos. Unsupported content should not be treated as a temporary browser error.

Instagram changed how the page is delivered

Websites can change their page structure, media delivery, or public endpoints. A workflow that worked previously can therefore stop working without anything being wrong with the URL you copied.

Your browser or network is interfering

Try a current version of Chrome, Safari, Edge, or another modern browser. If the page loads incorrectly, disable an extension that may block scripts or requests and try again. On mobile, a private browsing mode or aggressive content blocker can sometimes change how a page behaves.

What to do before trying again

1. Confirm the post is publicly viewable.
2. Copy the original URL again from Instagram.
3. Use a current browser.
4. Submit the URL once and allow the request to finish.
5. If it still fails, assume the content may be unavailable or unsupported rather than repeatedly submitting the same URL.

A failed download does not mean the content is yours to access

InstaFetch is not intended to bypass privacy controls or access private accounts. Public availability also does not remove copyright or other creator rights. Only download and reuse content when you have the appropriate rights or permission.
